I decided to come up with a post about the pros and cons of Aggieland Safari VS Franklin Drive Thru Safari since I keep seeing the question come up. So which is better, Aggieland Safari or Franklin Drive Thru Safari?
I have a review of both Aggieland Safari and Franklin Drive Thru Safari. You can also check out out the Aggieland Safari’s official website and the Franklin Drive Thru Safari’s official website, if you need more information.
Aggieland Safari Pros
A small advantage of Aggieland Safari is that it is a little closer than the Franklin Drive Thru Safari, if you’re coming from the Houston area. This also means that you’re closer to restaurants if you want to stop for lunch or dinner on the way back.
Something I love about Aggieland Safari is that it has a huge walk around area. I was really impressed with how clean their restrooms and picnic table area was. There were so many fun things to see in their walk around exhibits. Although Franklin Safari also has a playground, the one at Aggieland Safari is much larger.
Aggieland Safari Cons
The first con of Aggieland Safari is that it’s more expensive than the Franklin Drive Thru Safari. You also can’t feed animals from the bucket or your hand. The drive thru is fun but it isn’t as big and it doesn’t have as many animals as the one in Franklin.
Franklin Drive Thru Safari Pros
I found compared to Aggieland Safari, the Franklin Drive Thru safari’s drive thru section was much larger with a lot more animals. You can also feed the animals right from your hand or the feed bucket which is a really cool experience. In my review of the Franklin Drive Thru Safari, I recommend getting a couple of buckets of feed whereas at the Aggieland Safari I recommend just sticking to one bag of feed.
Franklin also has a really cool baby animal room and a lemur adventure (for an extra fee). Overall, it is also the less expensive of the two.
Franklin Drive Thru Safari Cons
Franklin Drive Thru Safari is farther away, if you’re coming from the Houston area. They also have facilities but they aren’t as nice as the ones at Aggieland Safari. Although, the baby animal room and the extra attractions at Franklin are a pro they are also a con because it is an extra fee to do them.
Both are really fun and make for a great day trip from Houston. If you are visiting the Bryan-College Station area, why not visit both? I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. My family had such a good time at both.
