Apple Oatmeal Pie in a pie dish

This apple oatmeal pie is a super easy dessert to make. It is made from scratch and perfect for the holidays or any time you’re craving a comforting dessert. The combination of sweet apples and wholesome oats is magical.

I’m a huge fan of apple desserts like this apple cake with raisins or this easy apple pie recipe. I actually made this pie with apples I bought on the “clearance” rack in my grocery store’s produce section. They usually always have bags of brown bananas and bruised fruits and vegetables on sale. The apples I snagged worked out great!

❤️Why you’ll love this recipe

  • No crust: This is the perfect pie to make if you don’t feel like rolling out a pie crust.
  • Easy: You need just a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of prep time for this recipe. The hardest part is peeling and cutting your apples.
  • Tastes great: This oatmeal apple pie tastes amazing. It is the perfect fall dessert.

🍎 Ingredients needed

ingredients needed to make Apple Oatmeal Pie

For this recipe, you will need:

  • Apples: You’ll need four large apples for this recipe. I used McIntosh apples.
  • All purpose flour: Although there is no crust, you’ll still need some flour to make the topping.
  • Old fashioned oats: For the topping.
  • White sugar and brown sugar: To sweeten the pie and the apples with.
  • Cinnamon, nutmeg, and all spice: To give the pie a little spice.
  • Butter: I recommend using unsalted butter. You’ll want the butter to be room temperature. If you only have salted butter on hand, that’s OK, just skip adding any additional salt in.
  • Vanilla extract: I recommend using pure vanilla extract for baking.
  • Salt: You’ll need just ¼ teaspoon of salt.
  • Milk (optional): Try adding two tablespoons of milk for a creamier oat topping.

You’ll also need a 9 inch pie pan.

🥣 How to make (step by step guide)

Begin by peeling, coring, and chopping your apples into small pieces. Next, sprinkle them with part of the white sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add the vanilla extract in as well.

🍦 What to serve with this recipe

You can serve this apple oatmeal pie as is or add whipped cream or vanilla ice cream on top.

👩‍🍳 Tips

  • I used McIntosh apples because that’s what was on sale at my local grocery store. You can use a combination of sweet and tart or just use your favorite type of apples.
  • Try adding two tablespoons of milk for a creamier oatmeal topping.

🥡 How to store leftovers

Cover this apple oatmeal pie with plastic cling wrap. Store in your refrigerator. It will be good for 4 to 5 days.
