If you are reading this, know that I am praying for you. I am praying for all the NICU moms out there. I’m praying for the mom who has a 28 weeker, the foster mom who is taking the drug addicted baby, the mom of multiples, and anyone and everyone in between those. Whatever your circumstance know that I am praying for all the NICU moms (and dads) and all of the babies who are staying in the NICU.
I wrote this prayer for NICU moms because I was you once. I sat there in that tiny room wondering if my son would be OK. There was chance he could have had permanent brain damage or life long complications. Leaving the hospital without your new baby is the worst feeling in the world. I can feel your heart breaking and tears coming down your face just as mine did. You may feel guilty or bad. You may feel like you did something wrong.
I see you washing your hands up to your elbows. Momma, I see you bringing books to read your baby. I see you pulling your pumped milk out of your bag to give to the NICU nurses. I see you and I know how you feel. You stay as long as you physically can and take turns with your spouse so that someone is always with your baby in the NICU. I know how tired you are at night but how worried you feel about your baby because he or she isn’t home with you.
When you’re scared
You may be scared but know that God is with you.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. – Deuteronomy 31:6
When you’re alone
You may feel alone but know that God is with you.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. – Psalms 34:4
When you’re anxious
You may be anxious but know that God will give you peace.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. – John 14:27
When you’re confused
You may feel confused but know that God can hear your prayers.
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. – Psalms 55:22
This season is hard
This is a season, momma. It is a trying and tiring season but know that babies are one of God’s biggest gifts and blessings.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. – James 1:17
If you need prayer, you can always send me a prayer request. I read and pray over each and every one I receive and I would love to pray for you.
