Filling our freezer before I had my second baby was such a game changer. I knew as a seasoned mom of one baby that it is so hard to cook when there’s a newborn in the house.
When I had my first baby, things were wild. We had a NICU stay, I was on crutches, and my son had colic. Everything was a blurry daze and Boston Market was our BFF for meals. I learned how to eat with one hand and use my crockpot real fast with my first baby!
I knew when I became pregnant with my second baby, I had to fill my freezer. I did and it was such a game changer, especially since my kids are only 15 months apart. It was also great because my sleep deprived mind couldn’t handle doing any meal planning. It was so nice because everything was already made and prepared.

Tips for filling your freezer
I love using these freezer gallon bags and these Pyrex brand storage containers. Both have worked really well in my small chest freezer.
Another great option are these disposable aluminum pans, I use these time to time when gifting freezer meals. Don’t forget to grab some labels to keep everything organized.
About these freezer meals
These freezer meals are all easy, kid friendly, and have real ingredients. These recipes are not complicated to make, freeze, or reheat.
I also think these freezer meals are great because there are several that are dairy free or have a dairy free option. Some nursing infants can have really sensitive stomachs and dairy can be a common culprit.
These meals aren’t just dinner. I know dinner is important but you can’t forget about breakfast or having a sweet treat too!

Freezer Friendly Beef Enchiladas
These freezer friendly beef enchiladas are loaded with beefy and cheesy goodness. They’re mild and the perfect hearty Tex-Mex meal.
Spaghetti Squash and Meatballs
This is one of my absolute favorite freezer meals. You won’t miss the pasta with this spaghetti squash and meatballs freezer meal. The spaghetti squash noodles have a satisfying crunch to it even after freezing and reheating.
Vegetarian Quinoa Enchilada Bake
This vegetarian quinoa enchilada bake is one of my favorite recipes to make for our weekly meatless Monday dinner. If you are a strict carnivore, you can add some shredded chicken but I find it is very filling even with just black beans. I love making a double batch.
Freezer Friendly Turkey Meatballs
While these freezer friendly turkey meatballs aren’t exactly a meal, they are so versatile. You can throw these in the oven and then use them for pasta, sub sandwiches, or add them in your crockpot with grape jelly and barbecue sauce.
Strawberry Baked Oatmeal
Don’t forget about breakfast when stocking the freezer! This strawberry baked oatmeal freezes really well. Plus, oats may possibly help to increase breast milk production for new moms, so this strawberry baked oatmeal is a must.
Old Fashioned Banana Bread
This old fashioned banana bread is a no fail recipe that’s also freezer friendly. I love making this banana bread because it’s an easy breakfast or snack for new moms to grab with just one hand!
Other tips for making freezer meals
- Try making these meals as “double meals” meaning one to eat now and one to freeze for later. It’ll help reduce the amount of work.
- Remove as much excess air from plastic storage bags when freezing to prevent freezer burn.
- Label your meals and include a date. I like keeping these labels in my kitchen junk drawer to label freezer meals or use for anything else that may come up.
- Double wrap baked goods in aluminum foil when freezing.
