This apple oatmeal pie is a delicious dessert that doesn't require making a crust. It's a little like baked oatmeal, a little like an apple crisp, and a lot like apple pie!
½cupunsalted butterroom temperature (8 tablespoons)
½teaspooncinnamon
¼teaspoonnutmeg
⅛teaspoonall spice
2tablespoonsmilkoptional, for a creamier topping
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Peel, core, and then chop your apples into small pieces. Next, sprinkle them with part of the white sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Add the vanilla extract in as well.
Next, add the apple mixture to a well greased pie pan.
In a bowl, combine the oats, salt, flour, nutmeg, all spice, remaining cinnamon, brown sugar, and white sugar. Cut in the butter with a pastry cutter or two knives. The mixture should be crumbly.
Pour in two tablespoons of milk, if desired. This will make the topping creamier.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees. The top should be golden brown.
