½cupunsalted butter(1 stick) softened to room temperature
½cupsugar
1large egg
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1cupall purpose flour
1teaspoonbaking powder
¼teaspoonsalt
red, white, and blue sprinkles
Instructions
With either a hand mixer or a stand mixer, cream together the sugar and the butter (softened to room temperature). You'll want to cream until it becomes light and fluffy (about one minute).
Next, add in your egg and vanilla. Gently mix it in.
Add in your dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt). Mix well with your mixer until well combined. The dough may seem crumbly but that is normal.
Chill the dough for at least one hour in your refrigerator.
Once the dough is chilled, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Add your red, white, and blue sprinkles to a small bowl.
Either grease a cookie sheet or line it with parchment paper (not wax paper).
Roll the dough into large balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and then roll the dough in the bowl of sprinkles.
Bake 4 to 6 cookies at a time (they will spread some) for 9 to 10 minutes. Let them sit on the baking sheet for 10 minutes after baking before you transfer them. This will help them finish baking.
Notes
Be sure to chill your dough for at least one hour. This will help keep them from spreading.Nutritional information is an estimate only.
