Ingredients

  • ½ pound dried black eyed peas If possible soak the beans overnight for the best flavor
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic salt heaping tbsp
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 medium white onion chopped into fine pieces
  • 4 pieces bacon sliced into small pieces (uncooked)
  • 4 cups water 

Instructions

  • Generously drizzle olive oil on the bottom of your crockpot (about 4 tablespoons) then add the beans, seasonings, and bacon pieces before adding the water.
  • Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
  • Check and add more water as needed.
