  • loaf pan

For the banana bread

  • 3 ripe bananas mashed with a fork
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • cup brown sugar
  • 2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp caramel syrup
  • ½ cup butter melted and cooled
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • 2 medium eggs beaten

For the salted caramel topping

  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2-3 tbsp caramel sauce

  • To make the banana bread, mix the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
  • Next add in your wet ingredients except for the caramel sauce. Please make sure you cool your butter a little bit or it will scramble the eggs.
  • Using a hand mixer, mix for about three minutes or until the batter is well mixed and no longer lumpy.
  • Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan. Pour two tablespoons of caramel sauce on top of the batter and then use a butter knife to swirl it in.
  • Bake your banana bread for 55 to 60 minutes at 350 degrees. You will know it is done because a toothpick should come out clean from the middle.
  • Next, pull your loaf of banana bread out of your oven and let it cool for about 15 minutes.
  • While it is still warm (but has cooled a little), sprinkle the sea salt over your loaf evenly.
  • Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of caramel sauce over the sea salt and banana bread.
