Salted Caramel Banana Bread
This salted caramel banana bread is the ultimate banana bread. If you are a fan of salted caramel, you will love this recipe. It is swirled with caramel sauce and then topped with salted caramel sauce for just the right amount of banana, caramel, and sea salt.
Servings 6 people
For the banana bread
- 3 ripe bananas mashed with a fork
- ½ cup white sugar
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp caramel syrup
- ½ cup butter melted and cooled
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- 2 medium eggs beaten
For the salted caramel topping
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 2-3 tbsp caramel sauce
To make the banana bread, mix the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
Next add in your wet ingredients except for the caramel sauce. Please make sure you cool your butter a little bit or it will scramble the eggs.
Using a hand mixer, mix for about three minutes or until the batter is well mixed and no longer lumpy.
Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan. Pour two tablespoons of caramel sauce on top of the batter and then use a butter knife to swirl it in.
Bake your banana bread for 55 to 60 minutes at 350 degrees. You will know it is done because a toothpick should come out clean from the middle.
Next, pull your loaf of banana bread out of your oven and let it cool for about 15 minutes.
While it is still warm (but has cooled a little), sprinkle the sea salt over your loaf evenly.
Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of caramel sauce over the sea salt and banana bread.
