This baby oil slime is so much fun for kids to play with. Use your favorite color of glitter to make it shimmer and sparkle! No Borax powder is needed in this recipe instead the boric acid comes from contact solution.

Whether it’s making glitter play dough or playing with their sensory bins my kids love sensory activities. After my son came home with some slime from a Valentine’s Day party, we’re now in the slime territory! It’s actually pretty fun to play with.

This slime is quick and easy to make. Kids will love this at home project and you can customize the glitter to whatever your child’s favorite color is.

Please note that this slime is meant for children 3+ years old and adult supervision is required. It is not meant to be ingested and avoid contact with clothing, hair, and carpet. I like to keep ours at our craft table or in our sensory bin box with fun tools.

How to make

Printable instructions with exact measurements below.

In a small bowl combine all the ingredients and mix well. Knead until the slime begins to form. If needed, add more baking soda and contact solution to make it thicker.

Do not ingest and avoid contact with carpets, hair, and clothing.

How to avoid the mess with slime

I like to keep slime at our craft table, on a large place mat, or keep slime in our sensory bin to help contain the mess.

How to store slime

Store this slime in an airtight container. I used an old tupperware container.

Tips

  • For thicker slime, add more contact solution (saline solution). For a slimier texture, add less contact solution (saline solution).
  • Do not ingest and avoid contact with carpets, hair, and clothing.
  • Use a place mat or sensory bin to contain the mess. Slime is super fun for kids but it can also be messy!

If you keep it clean and dry it will last for a really long time, at least a couple of weeks if not much longer. I keep ours in a little tupperware container when not using it.

Is there a specific type or brand of the contact solution (saline) that we should use ??

Opti free works best! Some of the store brands won’t have the boric acid which is what helps to make it slime.

I wish I had this recipe years ago when my kids were little!! I used to make play doh with my kids, but slime wasn’t a thing so much back in the ’90s! Looks cool and fun to play with!
