Thanksgiving Turkey Feathers Craft

Thanksgiving is almost here which means all the yummy food is coming. It also means cooler weather and a season of well, thankfulness. To get into the Thanksgiving spirit I wanted to share this Thanksgiving turkey feathers craft with free printable feathers. This craft uses an empty toilet paper tube or paper towel tube cut in half. It is simple and easy to do and is a low mess and low prep craft which makes things easier for this busy time of year. The feathers are also super easy to print with no sign up required to download.

This craft is perfect for at home fun with your kids, a preschool classroom setting, or a Sunday school setting. It’s also a great craft to set up at the kids’ table for Thanksgiving, especially since it is low prep, low cost, and low mess! These little turkeys look really cute along a Thanksgiving table setting. Your child will be super proud of their creation and happy that they helped to decorate.

This is also an easy craft for toddlers and preschoolers as long as you keep the small googly eyes away from them.

What supplies are needed to do this turkey toilet paper tube craft?

To do this craft, you will need:

• An empty toilet paper tube or an empty paper towel tube that has been cut in half
• Free printable feathers (see below)
• Crayons or markers
• Googly eyes
• Tape or glue
• Scissors (for adults or older children only)

I don’t know why but I really love the twistable crayons by Crayola. I guess because they are very smooth and since they are twistable they don’t break. I also really love the above googly eyes from Amazon. You get so many and they are self-adhesive which is amazing when you’re doing crafts with kids. I love not having to hot glue anything.

How to do the turkey feathers craft

Begin by printing out the free feathers printable below. You will want to print it using the landscape setting. I have designed the printable to be two pages long with a total of eight feathers. Feel free to print only one page if you want less or print more pages if you want more or are doing the craft with multiple children.

Once you have printed the feathers, cut them out for the children or if your children are old enough have them cut them using safety scissors. Color them using fall colors using crayons or markers.

Next, draw a beak and a wattle (the red piece) for your turkey on the toilet paper tube. I used a marker for this part but crayon or colored pencil works too. If your child is old enough you can have them draw their own.

Finally, add the eyes to your turkey (we used the self-adhesive googly eyes I mentioned above) and then glue or tape the colored feathers on the back to complete this Thanksgiving turkey craft.
