When my kids were younger (I am a two under two survivor) I didn’t know if I could make special snacks happen for them. Halloween snacks seemed like a distant dream. Now that my kids are a little older, I have made it a goal to not only have them help in the kitchen (like with this cinnamon raisin bread in a bag), but to make them fun foods too. I love making my kids special snacks and breakfasts on birthdays and holidays.
This monster fruit tray is super easy to put together. You don’t have to be a Pinterest mom to make something cool for your kids! You could also serve it with some spaghetti that has been dyed orange and black for even more spooky fun around Halloween time.

Equipment needed
For this recipe, you will need a dinner plate. Nothing extra or fancy is needed.
Recipe instructions
Add a pineapple ring to a plate. I used a small plate.
Next, strawberry halves around the pineapple.
Add blackberries for horns (or ears), a grape for the nose, candy eyes, and a raisin for the mouth. If not serving right away, add the candy eyes last.
Variations
- If you don’t have any candy eyes, you can use banana slices and blueberries for eyes.
- The fruit is really flexible with this fruit tray. You can swap it out for others and just follow the monster pattern.
Tips
- Put the candy eyes on at the very end so they don’t get runny.
- If you want to make this ahead of time, prep everything besides the candy eyes then cover with plastic storage wrap. Keep it in your fridge and then add the eyes before serving.
How to store leftovers
Cover any leftovers with plastic storage wrap and keep in your fridge.
