When we first moved into the house we lived into now, we had just gotten back from an international move and then lived in a rental for awhile. I also had a 14 month old and was seven months pregnant! I was exhausted and it was Christmas time. If you couldn’t tell from my site, I really like to feed to people but it didn’t seem like it was in the cards to make Christmas treats that year.

Luckily, I had a burst of energy and was able to get these reindeer chocolate covered strawberries done. It was nice to be able to drop them off at our new neighbors’ houses and introduce ourselves to them. Plus, they are so tasty. Now, life is a little less hectic than that year but my kids love when I make these strawberries for them.

🍓 Ingredients needed for these strawberries

ingredients needed to make Reindeer Chocolate Covered Strawberries

For this recipe, you will need:

  • Strawberries: You’ll need fresh strawberries, washed and clean. I recommend leaving the stems on because it makes it way easier to dip them in the chocolate.
  • Chocolate: You can use milk or dark chocolate.
  • Candy eyes: You can find these in the baking isle at most grocery stores. You can also order them on Amazon if you can’t find any.
  • Pretzels: For the antlers.
  • Red candy: Such as M&Ms for the nose. I used mini M&Ms.

You will also need non-stick spray, a double boiler (or a large pot and smaller pot), and wax paper.

🥣 How to make this recipe

Begin by heating your chocolate up in a double boiler. If you don’t have a double boiler, you can use a large pot and smaller pot. Fill the larger pot with water and then place the smaller pot inside of it. Fill the smaller pot with chocolate.

Wash and clean your strawberries while the chocolate melts. Dry them very well. Break your pretzels in half to form the antlers. Poke a half of a pretzel on each side of your strawberries.

Once your chocolate melts, pour the chocolate into a bowl and dip each strawberry (or you can spoon the chocolate over them). Place the strawberries on a piece of wax paper that has been sprayed with non-stick spray.

Wait about five minutes so the chocolate is less runny and add the eyes and nose.

Refrigerate for about 30 minutes so the chocolate can harden

🥡 How to store these strawberries

Store these strawberries in an airtight container in your fridge. They are best if eaten the day of. If you are making ahead, I recommend waiting to add the pretzels antlers because they can get soggy.
