For this recipe, you will need:
- Butter
- Sugar and brown sugar
- Egg
- Vanilla extract
- Quick oats
- Wheat germ
- Whole wheat flour: These cookies use whole wheat flour to make them extra nutritious.
- Baking powder and baking soda
- Corn starch
- Salt
- Cinnamon and nutmeg: The spices for the cookies
- Chocolate chips or raisins: Or alternatively, you can use your favorite mix-in. I used chocolate chips because that’s what my family prefers.

Not a fan of chocolate chips? Feel free to add your favorite mix-ins instead. Some ideas include raisins, dried cranberries, white chocolate chips, toffee chips, or butterscotch chips.

You will need a hand or stand mixer, baking sheets, and parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Preheat your oven to 350ยฐ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
Next, cream together your butter (softened to room temperature), sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract (image 1).
Next, add in the remaining ingredients except for the chocolate chips and mix until combined (image 2).
Stir in the chocolate chips (or substitute your desired mix-ins) with a large spoon (image 3) and then form dough balls (image 4).
Place six per baking sheet and bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring (this finishes the baking process outside of the oven, do not skip this step).

- Be sure to soften your butter to room temperature. If the butter is too hot or cold it will affect your cookie dough.
