These Amish Green Beans are perfectly seasoned with garlic and bacon. This simple side dish recipe is fast, simple, and uses just a few ingredients.

The ingredients needed to make Amish green beans.

For these green beans, you will need:

  • Fresh green beans: You’ll want to use fresh green beans with the ends trimmed.
  • Bacon
  • Butter: I recommend using unsalted butter so you can control the amount of salt going into the recipe.
  • Water
  • Fresh minced garlic
  • Salt and pepper

You can add in more garlic, if you are a garlic lover.

Nothing fancy is needed, you’ll need a large skillet.

⏲️ Recipe instructions (step by step guide)

Chop your bacon into small pieces and cook on your skillet for about three minutes (image 1). Note that the bacon may not be fully cooked yet.

Add the green beans, butter, garlic, salt, pepper, and water (image 2).

Heat on medium high until butter melts then reduce to a simmer for about 20 minutes. You can reduce the time to 15 minutes if you want a crispier green bean.

Ingredients
  

  • 16 ounces fresh green beans cleaned and ends trimmed
  • 2 strips bacon cut into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper or to taste

Instructions
 

  • Chop your bacon into small pieces and cook on your skillet for about three minutes (note that it will not be fully cooked yet).
