🍌 Ingredients needed
For this recipe, you will need:
- Bananas: Be sure your bananas are ripe. The darker the bananas, the sweeter the banana bread will be.
- Butter: I recommend using unsalted butter so you can control how much salt goes into this recipe.
- White sugar: To sweeten the bread.
- Eggs: You’ll need two large eggs for this recipe.
- Vanilla extract: Pure vanilla extract is best in baking.
- All purpose flour: The base of the banana bread.
- Oats: I used quick oats.
- Baking soda: To give the banana bread some rise.
- Salt: You’ll need just ½ a teaspoon of salt.
- Cinnamon: To give the banana bread a little spice.
- Chocolate chips: You can use milk chocolate, semi-sweet, or dark chocolate. I used milk chocolate because that’s what my kids prefer.
🥣 How to make (step by step guide)
To make this banana bread begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Melt your butter and set it aside to cool.
Next, peel and mash your bananas with a fork. In a large mixing bowl combine the dry ingredients (flour, oats, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and sugar). Stir well with a large spoon (image 1).
Add in the wet ingredients (bananas, eggs, vanilla, butter). Mix with a hand mixer until batter is smooth (image 2). Add in the chocolate chips and stir well with a large spoon (image 3).
Pour into a greased loaf pan (image 4). Bake for 55 to 60 minutes at 350 degrees. A toothpick should come out clean from the middle to indicate the bread is done.
🥡 How to store leftovers
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature. This banana bread will be good for up to four days after making.
📋 How to freeze
If you would like to freeze this banana bread, wrap it in a double layer of plastic storage wrap or aluminum foil. It will be good for up to three months in your freezer.
👩🏻🍳 Tips for this recipe
