I love making copycat recipes at home. When both of my children were under the age of two, restaurants weren’t really an option. Now, my kids are older and we can go out to eat more but it is definitely nice on our budget to make restaurant style recipes at home.
This copycat Golden Corral bourbon chicken is easy to make and tastes very close to the real deal. It is an easy three ingredient recipe. It goes great with steamed broccoli and rice.

Ingredients needed
This recipe is very simple, you will need just three ingredients:
- Boneless and skinless chicken thighs: You’ll need about 4 to 6 boneless and skinless chicken thighs. You can also substitute chicken breast if that’s what you have on hand.
- Teriyaki sauce: I used Panda Express because it was on sale. I’m sure Golden Corral uses another brand that only commercial kitchens can access so use whichever brand you like best.
- Bourbon seasoning: I used the Grill Mate’s brand.
How to make (step by step guide)
To make this recipe begin by sprinkling about three tablespoons of bourbon seasoning over your chicken.
Next, pour one cup of teriyaki sauce over the chicken. Let marinate for at least one hour. I think it tastes best if you let it marinate for a few hours.
Cut the chicken into small pieces (about one inch each).
Add two tablespoons of oil in a large skillet. Cook the chicken over medium high heat on each side. Cook until it is done and no longer pink.
Add in about one additional cup of teriyaki sauce and let simmer for about three minutes before serving.
Tips
- If possible, let your chicken marinate for several hours.
How to store leftovers
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in your fridge. Leftovers will be good for up to four days after making.
