Need a dipping sauce recipe for calzones? I’ve got two easy peasy options for you that are great for dunking calzones in.

calzone on a plate next to two dipping sauces

Calzones are such an easy recipe to throw together. I especially love to make them with my kids. I usually buy some pre-made dough and my kids can pick their own fillings. It is a fun way for them to feel included in the kitchen.

I wanted to include two options for the dipping sauces. I am a huge fan of ranch with my calzone but my husband and son only like marinara. My daughter likes both. So I like to make both options when we have calzones.

For the ranch, you will need:

  • Sour cream, buttermilk, and mayonnaise: The base of the recipe.
  • Dried parsley, chives, dill, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper: The seasonings for the ranch.

Equipment needed

You will need a mixing bowl and a whisk.

How to make

For the marinara dipping sauce:

In a medium bowl combine one cup of marinara sauce with the garlic powder and sugar. Mix well.

For the ranch dipping sauce:

In a medium bowl combine the ingredients. Mix together well with a whisk. Let the ranch sit in the fridge for about 30 minutes before serving. This will help the flavors fully come out.

Tips

  • Make the ranch a little ahead of meal time (about 30 minutes) so that the flavors have time to come out.

How to store leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in your fridge. They will be good for up to five days after making.
