I love using a box of cake mix as a recipe hack and this chocolate cake mix banana bread is no exception. Moist, tender, and extra chocolately this chocolate banana bread using cake mix will easily become your favorite banana bread recipe!

My kids have a love/hate relationship with bananas. No matter how many bananas I buy, there’s either no bananas left in the fruit bowl or all the bananas are gone in two days. My daughter recently went through a phase where she had to peel the banana herself and if it broke off while she was peeling it, she lost her mind. It can be so hard being two years old.
I go through phases where I end up making a lot of banana bread since sometimes the bananas go untouched. It seems like I am either feeding tiny monkeys or I’m making banana bread every other week.
I used dark chocolate cake mix because my husband is a huge dark chocolate fan but milk chocolate cake mix also works well. If you want to make this chocolate banana bread even more decadent, try adding a cup of chocolate chips to the mix.
Why I love this recipe
It’s easy, it’s perfect for chocolate lovers, and it’s a great way to use up any extra bananas in your fruit bowl.

For this recipe, you will need:
- Bananas: You’ll need three brown bananas for this recipe. The darker the banana, the sweeter your banana bread will be.

- Chocolate chips: These are totally optional, but to make this chocolate banana bread extra decadent try adding a cup of chocolate chips.
