❤️ Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Easy: These treats are so easy to make and can be made in just a few quick minutes.
  • Great for holiday treat boxes: These are so fun to add to a holiday treat box or Christmas cookie platter.
  • Kid friendly: Not only will kids love these cute treats but they’re easy enough for kids to help with too.

🥣 Ingredients needed

The ingredients and supplies needed to make Christmas Marshmallow Treats.

The complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the printable recipe card further below in the post.

For these treats, you will need:

  • Jumbo or roaster size marshmallows
  • Chocolate melting wafers: You can use milk chocolate or dark chocolate, whichever you like best. I recommend using chocolate wafers that are specifically for melting to keep things easy.
  • Candy eyes
  • Candy: I used a heart shaped gummy candy (Hairbo) for the nose but M&Ms also work great.
  • Pretzels: For the antlers.

🔪 Equipment needed

You will also need a few items to make these treats:

  • Straws, lollipop sticks, or popsicle sticks
  • Wax paper: for the treats to harden on.
  • A double boiler or a microwave safe dish: To melt the chocolate in.

⏲️ Recipe instructions (step by step guide)

A step by step guide showing how to make Christmas Marshmallow Treats.

Begin by spread wax paper over a large baking sheet or tray. Next, add straws or sticks to the ends of your marshmallows (image 1).

Next melt, your chocolate in a double boiler or a microwave safe dish (image 2). For the double boiler, I recommend heating on low and stirring frequently. If microwaving your chocolate wafers, I recommend reducing the heat to low or half and pausing to stir. This will help to avoid scorching the chocolate.

Dip your marshmallow in the chocolate and use a spoon or small spatula to cover it with chocolate (image 3). Quickly poke in the pretzels to the sides to create the ears.

Place on the wax paper and add the candy nose and candy eyes before the chocolate sets (image 4).

Repeat for however many treats you’d like to make. Refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes or until the chocolate hardens.

👩🏻‍🍳 Tips

Three chocolate covered marshmallows made to look like reindeer. The treats have candy eyes, pretzels, and a candy nose.
  • Add the pretzels right away as it gets harder to poke the pretzels through once the chocolate sets.
  • You can gently cut away any excess chocolate with a butter knife, if needed.

🥡 How to store leftovers

Store any leftover marshmallow treats in an airtight container. They will be good for up to five days after making.
