There are so many fun drinks at Starbucks. I know that I’m a huge Starbucks fan myself but sometimes I’m in the mood for something well, not so strong. If you’re wanting a pick me up with just a little caffeine, you’ll have to check out this list of low caffeine drinks from Starbucks. This list includes over 30 low caffeine options for your next Starbucks drink fix.
When we lived in Canada for my husband’s job there was a Starbucks in walking distance of our apartment which would have been amazing except for the fact that I was pregnant. I was really watching my caffeine intake at the time. Then, a neighbor who was leaving back to Europe (we lived in a corporate apartment at the time so lots of people were coming and going) gave me a Starbucks card since it would only work in Canada. It was a really nice gesture! I had to figure out what I could drink there without going overboard on the caffeine. There are luckily plenty of good options for low caffeine drinks.
Calgary is such a coffee loving city and there were Starbucks and hip coffee shops almost everywhere when we lived there. It was really nice to go for a walk with my son every day and get an afternoon treat. We are now back in Texas and luckily, we still live really close to a Starbucks.
Just to give you a reference for caffeine, an average cup of coffee (again, an average cup of joe, not a Starbucks coffee) is about 95 mg and a can of soda is about 40 mg. All the caffeine levels were taken from Starbucks official website and are all for a tall sized beverage. If you go up a size, it can increase the caffeine amount.
Starbucks drinks with 20-25 mg of caffeine (for a tall)
I think 20-25 mg of caffeine is perfect for a little afternoon pick me up. I know that if I have too much caffeine in the afternoon I can’t fall asleep. I think these drinks are perfect for that afternoon slump with just the right amount of caffeine. There are a lot of iced drinks on this list but I do have some more hot options further down that have no caffeine.
- Iced Black Tea
- Black Tea Lemonade
- Iced Mango Black Tea Lemonade
- Peach Iced Green Tea
- Peach Iced Green Tea Lemonade
- Iced Green Tea Lemonade
- Jade Citrus Mist Tea
- Hot Chocolate
Starbucks drinks with 45 to 55 mg of caffeine (for a tall)
There are quite a few options in the 45 to 55 mg range. Some of my favorite drinks from Starbucks fall in this caffeine range. My favorite is an iced green tea latte with a pump of vanilla. It’s so good! I also love the pink drink.
- Green Tea Latte (my favorite, I add a pump of vanilla and get it iced)
- Cool Lime Refresher
- Pink Drink
- Star Drink
- Very Berry Refresher
- Violet Drink
- Dragon drink
- Royal English Breakfast Tea Latte
- Matcha Green Tea Latte
- Kiwi Starfruit Starbucks Refresher
Starbucks drinks with 70 mg or less of caffeine (for a tall)
We’re getting up there in the caffeine but these two drinks are still less than the average cup of coffee in terms of caffeine.
- Chai Tea Latte
- Iced Chai Tea Latte
Ask for half-caf or decaf
Although there is still some caffeine in decaf, you can always order your favorite coffee drink with decaf. You can also do half-caf drinks on most coffee drinks. Half-caf means that they will use half decaf and half regular coffee to make your drink. I also think this is a great option, especially during pumpkin spice season or the holiday season when you don’t want to miss out on your seasonal favorites.
Starbucks drinks with no caffeine
There are some other options for drinks if you still haven’t found the right one or if you need a drink with absolutely no caffeine. My two favorites from this list are the iced guava passionfruit drink and the white hot chocolate. I love getting the white hot chocolate during Christmas time while we drive around and look at Christmas lights. It’s a fun treat and I know I won’t be awake all night after drinking it.
- Passion Tango Tea
- Passion Tango Tea Lemonade
- Blended Strawberry Lemonade
- Strawberries and Cream Frap
- Vanilla Bean Frap (Note that this different from the regular vanilla frap, be sure you specify)
- Caramel Apple Spice
- Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink
- White Hot Chocolate
Other options for no caffeine drinks
If you are wanting a hot beverage here are some more options with no caffeine at all.
I’m a huge fan of steamers. I actually remember ordering one of these when I was on a business meeting at a Starbucks a few years ago. At the time I was pregnant with my son. I didn’t want to let the news out yet but I had to watch my caffeine. I didn’t want to stick out like a sore thumb and not have a drink, so I ordered a steamer and it looked like I had a coffee. They are really good and they’re also a great beverage to get kids, just make sure they cool down some if you’re giving them to a very young child. Steamers are basically just lattes without the coffee. They’re steamed milk with flavored syrup.
- Pistachio Crème
- Cinnamon Dolce Crème
- Caramel Brulée Crème
- Chestnut Praline Crème
- Vanilla Steamer
- Steamed Apple Juice
