❤️ Why you’ll love this recipe
- Spot on: This copycat recipe tastes just like the restaurant version.
- Comfort meal: Alfredo is definitely a wonderful comfort food to make for your family.
- Easy: There are just a few ingredients and a few simple steps needed to make this recipe.
🥣 Ingredients needed
The full list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.
For this recipe, you will need:
- Butter: I recommend using unsalted butter so you can control the amount of salt going into the recipe.
- Heavy cream: Also called heavy whipping cream.
- Parmesan cheese: You’ll want to use grated or shredded Parmesan cheese (not the powdered kind).
- Salt and white pepper: You may want to adjust the amounts recommended to taste. Ever notice how Carrabba’s alfredo has a little pepper taste but no pepper flakes? I believe it is because they use white pepper in their alfredo recipe.
⏲️ Recipe instructions (step by step guide)
Begin by cutting your butter into small pieces (image 1). Heat your heavy cream on low and add a little bit of the butter at a time (image 2). Whisk as the butter starts to melt and continue to add the rest of the butter.
Turn to a low simmer then whisk well. Reduce the heat and add the salt, white pepper, and Parmesan a little at a time (image 3). Whisk until everything is well combined.
Serve over freshly cooked fettuccine pasta.
🥗 What to serve with this recipe
Serve this recipe with chicken (like this Italian Herb Chicken or Instant Pot Blackened Chicken). This Carrabba’s Dessert Rosa Cake and Carrabba’s Olive Oil Dipping Sauce would also really compliment this recipe.
👩🏻🍳 Tips
- Add the butter and Parmesan a little bit at the time. This will keep your alfredo nice and smooth.
- Whisk continuously and often.
🥡 How to store leftovers
Store any leftover alfredo in an airtight container in your refrigerator. Leftovers will be good for up to four days after making.
📋 Recipe FAQs
Yes, almost all of the food Carrabba’s makes in their restaurant is made fresh in their kitchen. Their bread is one of the only things not made in their kitchen.
I recommend reheating alfredo sauce on your stovetop. Whisk and re-heat on low until warm.
I don’t recommend freezing this sauce. It becomes too watery when defrosting.
Carrabbas uses fresh pasta but they don’t make their own pasta. Some recipes, like their spaghetti use shelf stable pasta.
