💭 Why you’ll love this recipe

Skip the canned stuff and try this from scratch recipe instead. These baked beans are super easy to make and the different flavors really come together. You can use your crockpot or oven for this baked beans recipe. It is a great side dish and guaranteed to be a huge hit!

🥓 What ingredients are needed for this recipe?

This recipe is pretty simple, you will need:

  • Dr Pepper: The star of this baked beans recipe.
  • Bacon: Bacon and beans always go so well together. Fry your bacon, drain the fat on paper towels, let it cool, and then chop it.
  • White onion: You’ll need a medium sized white onion for this recipe.
  • Pork and beans, great northern beans, and kidney beans: You’ll need cans that are about 15 or 15.5 ounces each. Do not drain the pork and beans but you will want to rinse and drain the liquid from the great northern and kidney beans.
  • Brown sugar: To sweeten the beans.
  • Ketchup: Because I’m from Texas I used Whataburger ketchup (from our Texas grocery store, HEB), but you can use your favorite brand.
  • Molasses: Be careful when measuring the molasses out, it is delicious but can have a very strong flavor if you use too much.
  • Dry mustard: The dry mustard in this recipe really gives the beans a nice flavor.
  • Garlic: You’ll need just two tablespoons of minced garlic.
  • Barbecue sauce: Use your favorite.
  • Salt and black pepper: I recommend salt and pepper to taste.

🥣 How to make this recipe

In the oven

If you want to bake these in the oven, combine the ingredients and then put the baked beans in a greased oven safe casserole dish and bake them for one hour at 350 degrees. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

In the slow cooker

If you want to use your slow cooker for these baked beans, spray your slow cooker with non-stick spray and then cook this recipe on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.

Hi Tanya, sorry about that. I am human and sometimes I make mistakes, I just updated the instructions. You’ll want to bake them for about 30 to 35 minutes. Hope you enjoy! 🙂
