This chai baked oatmeal is warm, comforting, and so easy to make. You can even prep it the night before. It smells amazing while it bakes!

I’m a huge fan of chai tea lattes. They are one of my favorite drinks to get at coffeehouses. This chai baked oatmeal takes chai to the next level. It is a warm and delicious baked oatmeal recipe that smells heavenly while it’s baking.

While some chai tea lattes tend to be spicy this chai baked oatmeal recipe is very mild in flavor. The spices pair very well with the oatmeal for a hearty breakfast.

💭 Why you’ll love this recipe

I think this is the perfect recipe for any time but it is especially nice during the holidays. Having a warm and filling breakfast liked oatmeal is perfect on a cold and dreary day. It is the perfect way to warm up!

Another reason why I love this recipe is because you can use almost any type of milk. This recipe works great with regular milk, almond milk, soy milk, and even coconut milk.

🥣 Ingredients needed

To make this chai baked oatmeal, you will need:

  • Quick cooking oats: You can also used old fashioned oats, if desired.
  • Vanilla extract: Pure vanilla extract is best.
  • Cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, all spice, ginger, and ground cloves: Whew, that seems like a lot of ingredients but chai does need a lot of spices to get the right flavor.
  • White sugar and brown sugar: To sweeten the oatmeal
  • Milk: This recipe is pretty flexible, you can use almost any milk (regular, almond, soy, coconut, etc).
  • Eggs: You’ll need two large eggs for this recipe.
  • Baking powder and baking powder: To make the baked oatmeal rise.
  • Salt: You’ll need just ½ a teaspoon.

⏲️ Recipe Instructions (step by step guide)

Step by step guide (a collage with four steps labeled) on how to make chai spiced oatmeal.

To make this recipe, first combine all of your dry ingredients (image 1).

Next, stir well (image 2). No one wants a clumpy bite of oatmeal or a big bite of baking soda that wasn’t mixed in enough.

Next, add your wet ingredients (image 3).

Next, pour your mixture into an 8 x 8 inch casserole dish or a deep dish pie pan (image 4).

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees or until the oatmeal is done in the middle.

💬 Can I prep this recipe the night before?

This recipe is perfect for prepping the night before which is one reason why I love to make this recipe during the busy holiday season. You can mix the ingredients in a large bowl, transfer it to a greased casserole dish and then leave it in your fridge overnight to bake the next morning. You may want to add a few minutes to the baking time since it will be baking from a colder temperature.

🥛 What toppings go on this oatmeal?

You can eat this oatmeal as is and it will be fabulous. Raisins and honey also go great on this oatmeal. If you like a soupy oatmeal, you can serve this oatmeal with warm milk poured over.

The term “chai” caught my eyes. Chai (tea) is very popular in India so I was very much interested to know the recipe. It seems delicious, I will surely give a try, though I am not a oats person but will love to try it. Thanks for sharing!!
