These Copycat Starbucks Chocolate Chip Cookies are a great homemade version of one of your coffee shop favorites! They taste just like the real deal but you will save time and money by making them at home.

I’m a huge fan of making Copycat Recipes at home and I love sharing them with my readers. While I have a few other Starbucks copycats like this Copycat Starbucks Banana Bread and Copycat Starbucks Rice Crispy Treats, I’ve only recently tried their cookies.

We had a particularly hard day of travel to see some family and everyone got one of their chocolate chip cookies (cookies make everything better, right?). There was so much traffic and bad weather, we all really need a pick me up! The cookies worked like magic and they are so good. My kids immediately asked me if I could make a copycat version when we got home.

❤️ Why you’ll love this recipe
- Taste and texture: These cookies are soft and chewy, sweet, with a hint of nuttiness just like the real deal. They’re not too thin and not too thick just like the ones at Starbucks.
- Easy to make: Nothing complicated here! There’s also no need to chill the dough either.
- Simple ingredients: You can easily make these copycat cookies with pantry staple ingredients.
🥣 Ingredients needed

The complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the printable recipe card further below in the post.
For these cookies, you will need:
- Whole wheat flour and all purpose flour: Starbucks cookies have a distinctly nutty taste by using a blend of both whole wheat and all purpose flour we’ll be able to recreate the nuttiness at home.
- Brown sugar and white sugar: To sweeten the cookies.
- Honey: To make the cookies soft and chewy we will add a small amount of honey. By using just a little, the cookies will be softer and chewier but there won’t be a strong honey taste.
- Salt
- Baking soda
- Vanilla extract
- Egg
- Unsalted butter
- Semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chocolate chips: If you can’t find chocolate chunks you can use chocolate chips or chop up a chocolate candy bar into small pieces.
🌰Variations
While the original cookies don’t have nuts, you can add some in if you like. Try adding ½ of a cup of chopped walnuts or pecans.
🔪 Equipment needed
You will need a hand or stand mixer, parchment paper (not wax paper), and a baking sheet.
⏲️ Recipe instructions (step by step guide)

Begin by preheating your oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper (not wax paper).
With either a hand or stand mixer cream together your softened butter, vanilla, honey, brown sugar, and white sugar (image 1).
Next add in the remaining ingredients except for the chocolate chips (image 2). Mix until everything is well combined.
With a large spoon, stir in the chocolate chunks (image 3).
Using a large cookie scoop (about 3 tablespoons of dough) form a dough ball. Place the dough onto your parchment paper lined baking sheet (image 4).
Bake for 14 to 17 minutes or until the edges are golden. Let the cookies rest 10 to 15 minutes after baking before transferring. This will finish baking them and help them be soft and chewy.
👩🏻🍳 Tips
- Use real unsalted butter and not a butter alternative.
- Measure your flours carefully.
- I recommend using parchment paper for the best results.
- Your baking time may vary, you’ll know the cookies are done when the edges are golden brown.
🥡 How to store leftovers
Store these cookies at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 4 days after making.
You can freeze the dough if you like. I recommend scooping it into balls and freezing it between sheets of wax paper. Add 2 to 3 minutes extra baking time from frozen.
