These Maple Rice Krispie Treats are the perfect fall treat. They’re ultra gooey with tons of delicious maple flavor!

We recently went on a trip to Vermont this summer to see some friends and family and of course we came back with tons of maple syrup. Usually in the fall, I’m all about pumpkin spice (like these Amish Pumpkin Cookies) or apple (one of my favorites is this Amish Apple Cake) but maple is incredibly underrated, especially during the fall months! There’s just something so cozy and comforting about maple.

For these treats, you will need:

  • Rice cereal: Such as Rice Krispies.

🔪 Equipment needed

You will need a large pot, spatula, whisk, and a 9 x 13 inch dish.

In a large mixing bowl, add 1 ½ cups of mini marshmallows in with the cereal (image 1). Stir gently until they are mixed in.

In a large pot, melt your butter (image 2). Reduce your heat to medium-low and whisk in the salt and nutmeg (image 3).

Add in the remaining marshmallows and maple syrup (image 4). I recommend using a medium-low heat and stirring constantly for the best results. Cook until everything is melted evenly.

Pour the mixture into the bowl of cereal and marshmallows (image 5). Mix well with a spatula then gently press into a greased 9 x 13 inch dish (image 6).

Let sit for at least one hour before cutting and serving.

👩🏻‍🍳 Tips

A close up photo of a maple rice krispie treat.
  • Use fresh marshmallows and cereal for the best results.
  • Gently pat the mixture into your dish. If you press too hard, it’ll make your treats tough.
  • Do not refrigerate these. Storing them at room temperature is best.
  • Be sure to set aside 1 ½ cups of marshmallows to add in with the cereal.
  • If you want to take your treats to the next level, try grating your own nutmeg for this recipe.

🥡 How to store leftovers

You can cover your dish with plastic cling wrap or aluminum foil or transfer the treats to a large storage container. Store at room temperature, do not refrigerate or freeze. The treats will be good up to four days after making.
